Season 1, Episode 6
Éire & Taisteal

S1 E6 44m

This episode looks at travel and transportation in Ireland in the aftermath of the Second World War. Harry Ferguson earned worldwide recognition as an inventor who revolutionised farming through his tractors. He was also renowned for building and flying Ireland's first aeroplane, and for designing the Ferguson P99. By the 1950s, the price of cars had fallen, and ordinary people could now afford the Morris Minor, the Honda 50, and of course the Beetle, an enduring symbol of rural Ireland in the decades that followed.
