Fourteen Days of Live Horse Racing including Rásaí Beo’s first visit to Cork Racecourse
16.04.25
TG4’s acclaimed live racing series Rásaí Beo returns to screens for 2025 on Saturday, April 19th, with a special broadcast from the Fairyhouse Easter Festival. The broadcast will once again feature the popular Ladies National Steeplechase, alongside a comprehensive preview of the prestigious Irish Grand National, which takes place on Easter Bank Holiday Monday. Last year, JJ Slevin stormed to victory aboard Intense Raffles in a thrilling finish to the iconic race.
In mid-May, Rásaí Beo will make its debut at Naas Racecourse, Co. Kildare, with coverage of the Royal Ascot Trials Day—a major fixture on the Irish flat racing calendar. With over €300,000 in prize money, this event serves as a key stepping stone for horses aiming to compete at Royal Ascot.
Later that month, the cameras head west for the fourth consecutive year of coverage from the scenic Ballinrobe Racecourse. The spotlight will be on the Mayo National, which last year was won by Sam Ewing aboard the Gordon Elliott-trained Duffle Coat.
On June 13th, Rásaí Beo visits Cork Racecourse, Mallow for the first time. The highlight of the day will be the Group 3 Munster Oaks, and this broadcast will bring the total number of Irish racecourses visited by Rásaí Beo to 22 out of 26—an incredible milestone for the series.
Later in June, TG4 plans to broadcast from The Curragh on Friday, June 27th, as part of the Irish Derby Festival, before returning to the renowned venue on August 9th for coverage of the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.
Between those two Curragh dates, the team will be in Ballybrit for the Friday and Saturday of the Galway Races, continuing a cherished tradition.
September will see Rásaí Beo head to the Kingdom once more for the 167th edition of the Listowel Harvest Festival. This year marks the 21st consecutive year of live coverage from Listowel. Last year’s feature race, the Kerry National, saw Flooring Porter, trained by Gavin Cromwell, lead from the front to seal a decisive victory.
2024 was a landmark year for Rásaí Beo, with first-time broadcasts from Roscommon, Kilbeggan, and Gowran Park, as well as coverage of the programme’s first ever Grade 1 race—the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown—where Brighterdaysahead edged out State Man in a thrilling climax.
The Rásaí Beo team is once again led by Seán Bán Breathnach, with expert analysis from Mánus Ó Conghaile, Sarah Lynam, and Évelyn Ní Ghriallais. Reporting from the parade ring, Daragh Ó Conchúir will be on hand to capture the thoughts and emotions of jockeys, trainers, owners, and punters. Meghann Scully also returns to the team for the festival broadcasts from Galway and Listowel.
TG4 continues to bring the excitement and tradition of Irish horse racing to a nationwide audience through the Irish language, celebrating the sport, its characters, and its stories with passion and expertise.
