Georgia Tech v Florida State University - Live on TG4 – Saturday 24th August

TG4 has confirmed that the station will broadcast this year’s Aer Lingus College Football Classic live from the Aviva Stadium on Saturday 24th August. Georgia Tech will play Florida State University in the opening fixture for the College Football season which is also an Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) game. This is the first time ever that the match will be broadcast live on free-to-air television in Ireland.
 
The 2024 edition of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic will be the third consecutive American college football game held in Ireland since the game series was announced and the eighth Division I College Football game to be played in Ireland.
 
Georgia Tech, based in the heart of Atlanta, will make a welcome return to Ireland – having played here in 2016 when they defeated Boston College by 17 points to 14 at the Aviva Stadium with a last-minute touchdown.
 
Florida State University, known as the Seminoles, will be playing their first-ever overseas football fixture. The three-time National Champions are one of American college football’s most widely supported teams, playing their home matches at the 79,560-capacity Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Florida.
 
With over 24,000+ people expected to travel to Dublin from America for the highly anticipated clash between two leading US colleges, research from Fáilte Ireland and Grant Thornton estimates that the 2024 Aer Lingus College Football Classic fixture will be worth €100 million to the Irish economy.
 
TG4 Head of Sport Rónán Ó Coisdealbha said: “TG4 are pleased to be bringing the Aer Lingus College Football Classic to a free-to-air live television audience in Ireland. This is one of the major sporting events being held in Ireland this year and we look forward to welcoming both Georgia Tech and Florida State University to Ireland for the 2024 game.”
