TG4 to celebrate Oireachtas na Samhna, the largest Irish Language Festival next week

The annual gathering of Gaels takes place next week from Wednesday October 30th to Sunday 3rd November in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin.  Oireachtas na Samhna is the largest Irish Language Festival, and is a date in the diary for both performers and appreciators of sean-nós dancing, singing and storytelling.  The event will draw thousands of people from every Gaeltacht, university and Gaelscoil and the diaspora.

TG4 will showcase and celebrate the best of what An tOireachtas has to offer over the duration of the festival, on-air, online and on social media. 

Nuacht TG4 will produce ‘Oireachtas 2019’ over three nights, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday night.  Lár Stáitse, which will broadcast live on Friday night at 8pm, will feature the winners and participants of the childrens competitions from the festival. Saturday from 1:15pm, Steip, the individual sean-nós dancing competition will be broadcast live on TG4, and we will find out who will take home the highly sought after 1st place. 

There will be extensive coverage of other sean-nós singing, storytelling and traditional arts competitions on TG4’s YouTube channel, details of which can be found here:  tg4.ie/oireachtas 

On Saturday night from 7pm, Corn Uí Riada, the premier sean-nós singing competition will be streamed live on TG4’s YouTube channel. 
There will also be a chance to view some of TG4’s archive programmes in the ‘Pop-Up Archive’.
