TG4’s reputation for quality and diversity was further enhanced at this weekend’s IFTA Film and Drama ceremony where the Irish language channel took an array of awards.
TG4’s Productions Win Awards at IFTA 2018

These include:
TG4XX Beo, which received the award for Live Event. This was a live concert event that took place in venues all over the country to celebrate TG4’s 20th Birthday. Taking part in the celebrations for the event were Liam Ó Maonlaí, Le Galaxie & Daithí, Banna Mháirtín O’Connor, Sharon Shannon, Duke Special & Ulaid, ProdiJIG, Muireann Nic Amhlaoibh & Aeons. Taking the award in the Irish Language category was Fir Bolg. It is a 6 part comic drama that tells the troubled story of a group of musicians. 25 years after an acrimonious split, Ireland’s greatest traditional band decide to hit the road again. But, with the absence of their founding member, the road to a happy reunion is far from smooth. This series follows the Fir Bolg as they attempt to recapture a moment in time amid bitter breakups and sweet reconciliations. Starring, Patrick Bergin, Seán McGinley, Don Wycherley, Aonghus McAnally, Peadar Cox, Paddy Courtney and Caroline Morahan with cameo appearances by Daniel O’Donnell, Marty Morrissey, Amy Huberman, Ryan Tubridy, Liam Cunningham and Stephen Rea. Produced by Dearg Films.
