Congratulations to the producers and programme teams for IFTA Awards 2015.

TG4’s reputation for quality and diversity in content and craft has been further enhanced at last night’s IFTA awards.  The Irish language channel’s output won 6 of the prestigious prizes, including live coverage of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, a gritty TV crime drama series, a timely profile of the role of women in the 1916 Rising, a profile of Ireland’s best loved steeple-chaser and craft awards for two of the channel’s acclaimed factual output.

The full list of TG4 IFTA 2015 winners reads as follows;

  • SPORTS:   Arkle – The Legend Lives On     (Touchline Media)
  • LIVE EVENT: Fleadh TV   (Paul McKay)
  • SPECIALIST FACTUAL: Cumann na mBan – Mná na Réabhlóide   (Genefile Ltd)
  • IRISH LANGUAGE:  Corp +Anam  (Magamedia)
  • SOUND TELEVSION:  John Brennan and Mark Henry, Ceolchuairt  (Magamedia)
  • CAMERA TELEVISION: Colm Whelan, Áille an Uafáis  (Tile Films)

The IFTA Awards are the most prestigious awards in Irish film and television.  Selection juries comprising leading practitioners in the industry select the short-listed entries and the ultimate prize winners were announced at the gala occasion last night.

Director General Pól Ó Gallchóir, congratulated the winners.”TG4 has received nominations and prizes at each IFTA since we came on air,” he said “and this impressive haul of winners for 2015 represents another marker of the excellence of our output and the regard in which it is held by our industry peers and the audience. Competing in the same categories that include some of the best quality English language TV content available anywhere, bears out the regular feedback we receive from viewers and critics who associate TG4 with distinctive quality and innovation”, he said.
